Alynn McIntire

Alynn Peterson McIntire, 84, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 4, 2026, at Eagle Rock Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia.

Alynn was born October 23, 1941, in Smithfield, Utah, to George “Russell” Peterson and Verla Maria Humphreys Peterson. She grew up and attended schools in Washington Terrace and Farr West, Utah. She later attended school to be a cosmetologist.

On August 19, 1960, she married Merrell Saunders McIntire in Farr West. Alynn and Merrell lived in Northern Utah and Southeast Idaho, then settled in Idaho Falls. Throughout her life Alynn worked as a cosmetologist, a seamstress and in production for Melaleuca for 15 years without missing a day at work.

She was a stay at home mother of six kids. She loved to do crafts, interior decorating, camping, family get togethers, and she loved her grand-babies. She was the most caring mother and loved each child and grandchild unconditionally. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Alynn and Merrell’s marriage was solemnized in the Logan temple.

Alynn is survived by her son, Devin Merrell McIntire of Pocatello, ID; daughter, Janice “Jan” (Jeff) Hovis of Ammon, ID; daughter, Tracy (Randy Moser) Brown of Blackfoot, ID; daughter, Leslie (Van) Sorg of Dickinson, ND; son, Brett Merrell McIntire of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Tiffany Alynn (Larry) Schorzman of Blackfoot, ID; sister, Carolyn Pratt of Ogden, UT; brother, Richard (Carol) Peterson of Bear Lake, ID; sister, Janiel Foster of North Ogden, UT; sister, Elaine (Roger) Hunt of North Ogden, UT, 27 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jesse Shane Brown; nieces, Denise Jones, Dianna Bolinger, and Lori Gamez; and nephews, Johnny Rickets, and David Thorson.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 16, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home, 963 S. Ammon. The family will visit with friends 1:00-1:45 prior to services.
