Alyce Sommerville

Alyce was born December 20, 1939, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Rex Lott Woolf and Berniece Frandsen Woolf. She attended schools in Ucon, Ririe and Bonneville High School. On June 3, 1957, she married Jack H. Grover in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple and they had three children. She and Jack later divorced. Alyce found the love of her life, Richard Leo Sommerville, and they were married on December 27, 1986. They were married for 16 years when Richard passed away. She had worked at CAL Ranch stores and Farmers Insurance. Alyce was a traveler and lived in Boston, MA; Pittsburgh, PA; Huntsville, AL; Diamond Head, MS; and Santa Maria, CA. They had a cabin in Island Park where she loved to spend time with family and friends. Alyce loved the South. When Richard was not working, they were exploring other towns, cities and markets around the South, but family was in Idaho, so they retired in Ammon. Alyce loved traveling, golfing, fishing, boating, cross-stitching, gardening and coaching her kids’ sports teams. She loved working on the family farm and broke her own horses when she was young. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Alyce is survived by her son, Troy Jack Johnston of Idaho Falls, ID; daughters, A. "Kim" Johnston of Idaho Falls, ID and Gayla (Don) Davis of Graham, WA; stepdaughters, Suzette (Dale) Clayton of Rigby, ID and Laurie (Jim) Staggs of Island Park, ID; stepson, Kevin Sommerville of Rigby, ID; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and her two cats, Gracie and Kali.
