Alton Edwin Nebeker, 95, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 19, 2025, at the Gables of Ammon with his loving wife by his side. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice.
Alton was born August 3, 1929, in Annis, Idaho (Clark Ward) to Alvin Edwin Nebeker and Roselle Bebe Runolfson Nebeker. He grew up and attended schools in Annis. He then went into the military and served as a Scout in the United States Army during the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart twice for being wounded in action.
On August 9, 1958, he married Dianna Georgia Rose in Sugar City, Idaho. Alton and Dianna made their home in Idaho Falls where they raised their four children, Gale, Glenn, Paralea, and Sarah. Alton worked for Utah Power and Light.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and yard work. He was very active and very friendly with everyone he met. He was also known as a rock hound, and he enjoyed the many years that he served in the local VFW chapter, Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
Alton is survived by his wife, Dianna Georgia Nebeker of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Gale Edwin Nebeker of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Glenn Allen Dutch (Neveda Mattson) Nebeker of Ammon, ID; daughter, Paralea Diana (Jason Johnson) Furniss of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Sarah Ann (Wes Davis) Rose of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter-in-law, Jackie LaVern Nebeker of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, John Robert Christen (Rosey) Nebeker of Orem, UT; brother, Andrew Kay Boas Nebeker of Derby, KS; 23 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Edwin Nebeker; mother, Rebecca Bebe Rosezelle Runolfson-Nebeker; sisters, Donna Rosezelle Voyles, Ada Afton Christensen, Josephine Billie Cutler, and Sherley Valgarta Nebeker; twin brother, Alvin Edward Nebeker; and brothers, Clinton Douglas Nebeker and Vaughn Stewart Kelley Nebeker.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Idaho Honor Guard.
