Allen Gene Horne, 78, of Ammon, passed away peacefully in his home on January 10, 2026. He was under the care of his loving family and the Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
Al was born February 21, 1947, in Goffstown, New Hampshire, to Donald Russell Horne and Catherine Elnora Vanwy Horne. He grew up in Goffstown and attended Goffstown High School, where he graduated. After he finished high school, he joined the Air Force and served for eight years. He moved to Washington state where he worked for Boeing for 30 years as a tool maker. He also joined the Air Reserves and Air Guard, serving a total of 22 years in the Military. After retiring from Boeing, he worked at the Boeing restoration center doing what he loved, restoring old aircraft.
Al and his wife moved to Ammon in 2016 to be closer to their daughter and son-in-law with their three children.
Al is survived by his wife, Sharon Horne of Ammon, ID; sons, Stephen Horne and Ronald Horne, both of Seattle, WA; stepson, Daniel Reddin of Seattle, WA; stepdaughter, Catherine (Jeremiah) Lilly of Idaho Falls; three grandchildren; and sister, Phyllis Drown of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, with Pastor Scotty Brown officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Air Force Honor Guard. Inurnment will take place in the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Blackfoot at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Eastern Idaho, 1810 Moran Street, Idaho Falls, ID 83401.
