Allen Rey Butikofer, 85, of Coltman, passed away September 17, 2013, at his home.
Allen was born July 19, 1928, in Coltman, Idaho, to Rudolph Arnold Butikofer and Bertha Lucile Linck Butikofer. He grew up and attended school in Coltman and graduated from Ucon High School. He was a lifelong resident of the Coltman area.
On June 2, 1948, he married Lorna Mae Wadsworth in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. To this union were born nine children, Eugene, Connie, Keith, Patricia, Susan, Janice, Jolene, Jeffrey, and Kelly.
As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Allen served four missions with his wife, to Canada-Regina; Vermont; the Bishop’s Storehouse; and the Idaho Falls Temple. He also served as Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader and Instructor, as one of the seven Presidents of the Seventy in the Idaho Falls East Stake, and as a Primary Teacher. Allen was a man who loved God, family, farming, woodworking and gardening. He believed in and taught the importance of a hard day’s work.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lorna, a sister, Gladys Treffry, brothers, Maurice and John Butikofer, a grandson, Trent Butikofer, and a great granddaughter, Gracy Wright.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013, at the Idaho Falls LDS Coltman 2nd Ward, 12448 North 5th East, with Bishop Dennis Love officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N, Ridge, and from Noon to 12:45 p.m. Saturday prior to services at the church. Burial will be next to his eternal companion, Lorna, in the Grant-Central Cemetery.
