With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Alice “AK” Kaye Guyer on October 23, 2024, in Boise, Idaho. AK was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, known for her vibrant spirit, adventurous nature, and lifelong love of learning.
She was born on November 8, 1943, in Mount Vernon, Illinois, and raised in Geneva, Alabama. AK graduated from Geneva High School and began her academic journey at Auburn University. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Troy State University and then moved West to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where she began a new chapter in her life. She later completed a Master’s Degree from Idaho State University, showcasing her dedication to education and personal growth.
Over her lifetime, AK found joy in running, tennis, horseback riding, hunting, camping, playing Bridge, and traveling—passions that defined her adventurous spirit and kept her connected to the world around her. She also spent many hours at the Skyline Gun Club, always embracing an active and full life that inspired those in her life.
AK was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Alice Hodges; her cherished son, Jerome Brooks Morgan; and her loving husband, Thomas R. Guyer.
She is survived by her sister, Sandy Semerad; her daughters, Larson Williamson and Ashley Gailey; her sons, Alton A. Dean III, Thomas R. Guyer II, Jason Guyer, and Justin Guyer; ten grandchildren, Greyson DeanPoirier, Jessica Dandurand, Lilyth Biehl, Alton A. Dean IV, Griffin Gailey, Ava Gailey, Alice Gafney, Finnian Gafney, William Kaserman, and Taylor Kaserman; and three great grandchildren, Aiden DeanPoirier, Ryleigh DeanPoirier, and Silas DeanPoirier.
Her family and friends will carry forward her legacy of love, resilience, and joy. AK’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be dearly missed and forever cherished.
A funeral service honoring AK’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, with Rev. Elizabeth McVicker officiating. The family will welcome guests for a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continuing until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service.
