DEAUNE DAVIS IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Alice Deaune Peterson Davis, 87, of Idaho Falls, died April 24, 2007, in Orem, Utah, from causes incident to age. She was born November 1, 1919, at Rockford, Idaho, to James Ancle Peterson and Zada Olena Smith Peterson. She was raised and educated in Rockford and graduated from Thomas High School. She attended the University of Idaho Southern Branch in Pocatello, where she received her teaching certificate. She taught First and Second Grade at Riverside Elementary. On June 6, 1940, she married David Howard Davis in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. They lived in Blackfoot, Soda Springs, and in Hyrum, Utah, before moving to San Francisco while her husband served in the U. S. Army during World War II. They settled in Idaho Falls, where they owned and operated Printcraft Press. Dave preceded her in death September 10, 1996. An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many callings, including Relief Society President, Visiting Teacher, MIA leader, and at the age of 73 was called to be Primary President. She served with her husband as officiator in the Idaho Falls Temple for many years. She was a Voting Election Worker for the City of Idaho Falls for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, ceramics, crafts, and playing games. Deaune found great joy in serving others, loved her children and grandchildren and many dear friends, and enjoyed the many happy times she spent at the family cabin in Island Park that her husband and sons lovingly built for her. Survivors include her two sons, Brent D. (Julie) Davis of Provo, Utah, and Kirk P. (JoAnne) Davis of Rigby, Idaho; a daughter, Betty D. (Brian) Lundell of Rigby, Idaho; a sister, Carma (Ross) Nielsen of Provo, Utah; a brother, George (Velda) Peterson of Sandy, Utah; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Peterson of Blackfoot, Idaho; 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Sandra, her parents, a sister, Zada, a brother, Lyle Peterson, and a great granddaughter, Megan Wright. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, May 5, 2007, at the Idaho Falls LDS Rose Park Ward, 351 West 14th Street, with Kirk Reese officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the church. (even though sometimes she didn't know who I was) We still had a special connection, somehow she really did know, even though she couldn't always get my name out. I'm sorry to hear about the loss. I know she contributed well to this world, and she will be missed. But let me assure you that she is happier now.
