AL ANSELMO IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Alfredo Albert Anselmo, 83, of Idaho Falls, died on February 18, 2007 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He was born July 4, 1924, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Frank and Flora Prette Anselmo. He graduated from Pocatello High School in 1942. He joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1942 - 1946 in the Pacific Ocean aboard a ship as a radio operator. He returned to Pocatello and met his wife, Loeda May Harris, while working part-time at the Delite Bakery. They were married August 23, 1946. He was one of the original 14 men that started working on the desert for the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission October 10, 1949. He became one of the world’s foremost expert in nuclear traffic management. He managed the transportation of radioactive materials in support of the Three Mile Island disaster. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and participated with the veterans in the military rites in Bonneville County. He joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on February 16, 1963. He was sealed to his wife and children in the Idaho Falls Temple on February 15, 1964. Along with his wife, he served a four year temple mission. He served in many church positions, including Bishop. His hobbies included bowling, swimming, collecting and restoring dolls, and crafts. He especially loved being with his sweetheart of 59 years and 8 months, and his family. Survivors include his children Sandy (John) Morris, Richard W (Kim) Anselmo, Brad F Anselmo, Debbie Nelson, and Lori Anselmo, nine grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two sisters, and one brother. Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 21, 2008, at the Idaho Falls LDS Crestwood Ward, 2055 Coronado, with Bishop Sheldon Dance officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon, and Thursday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
