A. LOWELL CRAMER
IDAHO FALLS, ID - Alfred Lowell Cramer, better known as “Skip,” died peacefully in his sleep November 10, 2003, at Turtle and Crane Assisted Living in Idaho Falls. His family says, Dad was a great example to us of quiet leadership and service to others.
Skip was born March 7, 1914, in Ucon, Idaho, to Alfred and Emily Tyler Cramer. He had seven sisters who taught him much about service.
He married Imogene Barry October 18, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah. After serving as a Sergeant in the Army during World War II, he returned to Idaho and joined the Idaho Falls Police Department. He worked his way through the ranks to become the Chief of Police. After retiring from the police force, he moved to Pocatello and taught another ten years at the Idaho State University Police Academy. His students still serve as law enforcement officers throughout the state. After his retirement, he continued to serve in the community through AARP and participation in the senior citizens center. He was also a past exalted ruler of the Idaho Falls Elks Lodge.
Skip was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean. He is survived by two sons, Robert (Francis) Cramer of Iowa City, Iowa, and Richard (Judy) Cramer of Danville, Virginia, and one daughter, Bonnie (Gary) Anderson of Anchorage, Alaska. There are nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren who will miss Skip and his love for them, as well as three sisters, Rozilla Cramer, Rhea Green, and Leah Larsen, all of Idaho Falls..
The family will honor his wishes of no formal funeral services.
