AL ALVEY
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Alfred Lionel “Al” Alvey,
91, of Idaho Falls, died June 30, 2004, at Idaho Falls Care Center.
He was born January 14, 1913, in Escalante, Utah, to
James Alvey, Jr. and Synthia McInelly Alvey. He was raised in Escalante
and attended public schools there.
He married Sarah Elizabeth Finn October 12, 1932, in
Dillon, Montana. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS
Temple December 12, 1951. They have lived in Idaho Fall for 72 years.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator, then drove truck for over 30
years.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, he held office of High Priest. He served as a Sunday School Superintendent
for many years and especially loved serving in the ward choir. He and
Sarah served a mission in Alabama from January 1980 to June 1981. They
also filled a temple mission in St. George, Utah.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping in Island Park.
He loved singing, entertaining his grandchildren, singing and playing
harmonica with a group, and serving as a member of the church choir.

Daughter: Yvonne (Wayne) Olsen, Iona, ID
Daughter: DeeAnn (Ray) Malone, Idaho Falls, ID
15 Grandchildren, 45 Great Grandchildren, 6 Great Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters, a great grandson,
a daughter-in-law, Elaine Alvey, and a granddaughter-in-law.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July
3, 2004, at the Idaho Falls LDS 15th Ward, 2051 South Emerson, with Bishop
Steve Perry officiating.
The family will visit with friends Friday from 7 to 8:30
p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge, and Saturday for one hour
prior to the services at the church.
Burial will be in Rigby-Pioneer Cemetery under the direction
of Wood Funeral Home.
