IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Alene Rogers Miller was born January 28, 1930, in Shelley, Idaho, to Claude and Vivian Day Rogers. Alene passed away February 12, 2009, in Idaho Falls. Alene attended school in Shelley, Idaho, and graduated from Shelley High School.
She married Charles Wendell Miller August 19, 1949. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. One year after their marriage, Wendell was called into active duty in the Korean War and Alene had her first son, Randy, while Wendell was serving overseas. Alene was a telephone operator prior to her marriage, and she worked at the Driver’s License Bureau for Bonneville County from 1971 to 1988. But there was really only one occupation that defined her: Loving Mother and Grandmother.
Alene was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she served in multiple positions, including two stake missions. Alene enjoyed quilting, traveling, gardening, canning, baking, playing Rook and camping at Granite Hot Springs with her friends, doing things with her sister Colleen, and spending time at the cabin in Island Park with friends and family. Mostly she enjoyed being with family.
Alene’s best friend and husband passed away four years ago, after 55 years of marriage. She is survived by:
Son:
Randy (Cathi) Miller of Brea, California,

Son: Layne (Teresa) Miller of Idaho Falls,

I wish I didn't live so far away so I could attend the funeral today. ( I am in Canada.) My mother (Colleen) will really miss Alene. They had the privilege of living in the same town so they could talk often.
I have fond memories of Alene and of course I can't think of her without also thinking of Wendell. They took me in for a week when my parents went on a trip to the Worlds Fair, in the 50's. I remember riding my bike around and around their block. It was so smooth compared to my farm route that I was used to riding on.
Alene was a relaxed person, always moving at her own pace. Slow to anger I am sure, I never heard her raise her voice. She had a very distinctive, cute chuckle also.
I know she loved all of you very much, as she did her grandchildren and her parents and siblings. I will miss her but I know her and Wendell are very happy.
Love, Jeana, Robin and Family
