ALBERT E. WELLMAN
IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Albert Earl "Bert" Wellman, 77, of Idaho Falls, died May 24, 2002, at his home.
He was born October 2, 1924 to George Earl Wellman and Elizabeth Esling Wellman in Havre, Montana. He moved to Idaho in 1930 and settled in the Idaho Falls area for the remainder of his life. He attended Ammon Elementary, Riverside Elementary, O. E. Bell Jr. High School, and Idaho Falls High School. He was drafted into the military before he could graduate, but received his diploma on April 19, 2002 along with many other veterans who were unable to graduate. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He later attended Eastern Idaho Technical Welding school.
He married Sharon May Gordon July 8, 1975 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He started as a stock boy in the grocery business at the age of 14 for Broulim's in Idaho Falls and later worked at Wally's Grocery, Dick's Grocery, and Aimen's Grocery. He bought Holiday Market in 1970, which he operated until retirement in January 1997 due to ill health.
He was a member of the Church of the Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed reading, gardening, camping, boating, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving are:Wife: Sharon Wellman, Idaho Falls, IDSon: William Joseph (Deann) Wellman, Idaho Falls, IDDaughter: Cindy Marie (Jeff) Dickerson, Kingston, WASon: Michael R. (Rebecca) Wellman, Idaho Falls, IDSon: Eric Douglas (Lucinda) Wellman, Anchorage, AK 14 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Noel Wellman; two brothers, Arthur and George; a sister, Margaret Kearney; and a granddaughter, Shannon. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at the Idaho Falls LDS Grandview Ward, 1450 Mountain View Lane, with Bishop Grand Leavitt officiating.
The family will visit with friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home and Tuesday for one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.
Burial will be in Grove City Cemetery at Blackfoot under the direction of Wood Funeral Home.
