IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Alan John Skaar, 60, of Rigby, passed away November 12, 2008, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
He was born June 13, 1948, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Albert Bernard Skaar and Twila C. Paesl Skaar. He grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Bonneville High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay.
On September 14, 1973, he married Kathi A. Gagon in Elko, Nevada. He farmed and for the last 25 years he was Manager of Progressive Irrigation District. He also served as the deputy water master for the State of Idaho.
Alan was a member of the First Lutheran Church. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Jefferson Hills Men's Golf Association. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and creating metal art. He especially loved spending time with his grandson, Cooper John Crane.

Daughter: Alison "Ali" (Paul) Crane, Meridian, ID
Brother: Keith (Jane) Skaar, Idaho Falls, ID
Brother: Rick Skaar, Idaho Falls, ID
Sister: Priscilla (Gary) Rainey, Idaho Falls, ID
Sister: Debra (Dale) Clements, Idaho Falls, ID
1 Grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Roger Skaar, and two sisters-in-law, Laurie Skaar and Cherie Skaar.
The family will meet with friends Friday, November 14, 2008, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge. A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, November 15th at the Jefferson Hills Golf Course, 4074 East 500 North, in Rigby, Idaho.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Jefferson Hills Golf Course Memorial Fund, 4074 East 500 North, Rigby, ID 83442 or to the Alan Skaar Scholarship Fund at Idaho State University, 921 South 8th Avenue, Stop 8050, Pocatello, ID 83209-8050.
