Alan Loyd Hansen, 71, of Rigby, passed away May 6, 2026, at his home.
Alan was born February 12, 1955, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Wayne Leroy Hansen and Alain Walda Otteson Hansen. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls and graduated from Skyline High School. Alan was a wrestling state champion and placed fourth at nationals. He also attended Ricks College & Eastern Idaho Technical College. Alan served in the Ontario Canada Mission.
On December 5, 1974, he married Elizabeth Kay Cairns in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Alan and Kay made their home in Osgood, Idaho, where Alan was a farmer. After retiring from farming, they made their home in Rigby where he worked as a juvenile probation officer for Bonneville County.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed wood working, aviation, telling jokes, Pepsi, painting with Bob Ross, coaching wrestling and softball.
Alan is survived by his wife, Kay Hansen of Rigby, ID; son, Jeremy (Sarah) Hansen of Rigby, ID; son, Aaron (Charity) Hansen of Boise, ID; son, Michael (Farrah) Hansen of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Jacob Hansen of New Orleans, LA; sisters, Jone (Ray) Packard of Thatcher, UT, Donna (Tim) Radmall of Ogden, UT, and Judy (Joel) Anderson of Eagle Mountain, UT; sister-in-law, Shelly Hansen of Buena Park, CA; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Amy Nicole Hansen; brothers, Carl and Mark Hansen, and a sister, Sandra Hansen.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Rigby 14th Ward, 602 Sundance, with Bishop Feki Po’uha officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue, and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
