Agnes Hobday Dean

Agnes Edith Funk Hobday Dean, 92, of Idaho Falls, passed away January 26, 2016, at her home of natural causes surrounded by her loved ones. She was under the care of Alliance Hospice. Agnes was born June 5, 1923, in Astoria, New York, to Fredrick William Funk and Catherine Ignatia Fullam Funk. She grew up and attended schools in Flushing, New York, and graduated from Flushing High School. On September 21, 1946, she married Arthur McCormick in Corona, New York. To this union were born three children, Douglas, Cathy, and Cory. Arthur passed away in 1968. On February 14, 1974, she married Dick Hobday in Elko, Nevada. She felt privileged to join his large, loving family and help him raise his children Larry, Anne, Carey, Christine, Sara, and Paul. Agnes and Dick made their home in Idaho Falls, Idaho, where Agnes worked as a teller for a bank and as a supervisor in word processing at the Idaho National Lab. She retired in 1981 and she and Dick moved to Overton, Nevada, and enjoyed many friends and good times. Dick passed away on August 13, 1998. On November 27, 2000, she married her good friend, Bill Dean. They were divorced in 2011. He passed away September 10, 2015. Agnes was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards and indulging her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Even though she had many unbearable losses, she was always happy and the life of the party. Agnes is survived by daughter, Cory (Pat) Zona of Idaho Falls, ID; stepson, Larry Hobday; stepdaughter, Anne Hobday; stepson, Carey (Cindi) Hobday; stepdaughter, Christine Schell; stepdaughter, Sara (Barry) Fulghum; stepson, Paul (Gail) Hobday;10 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, all three husbands, her son, Douglas McCormick, daughter, Cathy Fox, sister, Margie Behrens. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to services. Our very heartfelt thanks to Alliance Hospice, most notably Trisha, Kim, and Hillary.
