AFTON SCORESBY IDAHO FALLS, ID - Afton Louise Harker Scoresby, 74, of Iona, died March 6, 2006, at East Idaho Regional Medical Center. She was born March 24, 1931, in Shelley, Idaho, to Benjamin Ernest Harker and Anna Elizabeth Pehrson Harker. She attended Stanton School through eighth grade and graduated from Shelley High School. She has lived in the Idaho Falls area all of her life. She married Clifford William Scoresby November 2, 1950, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. She worked at Chesbro Music Company in her early adult life, and besides selling Christmas trees, was a homemaker all of her life. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served as ward organist, Relief Society President, Stake Primary President, teaching and many music callings in the ward; she especially enjoyed playing the organ in the temple for the last eleven years. She loved her family and especially enjoyed being a wife and mother, and enjoyed gardening, quilting, family history and writing poetry about her family. She is survived by her children: Lynette (Grant) Wade, Riverton, UT Ralph (Kendra) Scoresby, Kearns, UT Rene (Margaret) Scoresby, Wausau, WI Blair (Leslie) Scoresby, Kaysville, UT Bryan (Mary) Scoresby, Palmer, AK Eric (Sheila) Scoresby, Iona, ID Delwin (Shelly) Scoresby, Washington, UT Mary Ann (Jim) Clark, Plymouth, MN Paul (Nancy) Scoresby, Ucon, ID Ramona (Randall) Pixton, Tooele, UT Dianna (Tom) Cardon, Westerville, OH Lolly Crow, Iona, ID three brothers, Leo Harker, Dennis Monson and Gordon Harker; and five sisters, Carma Herbst, Carol Miles, Ann Locke, Betty Jenks and Mary Susan Johnson 56 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband and a 3 year-old son, David Ben Scoresby. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 10, 2006, at the Iona LDS Stake Center, with Bishop Ken Wrightson of the Iona 1st Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Wood East Side Chapel, 963 South Ammon Road and for one hour before services Friday at the church. Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery under the direction of Wood East Side Chapel.
