Afton Lindsay Frisby, 92, of Ammon, passed away April 26, 2016, at Hospice of Eastern Idaho Home.

Afton was born March 31, 1924, in Payson, Utah, to Samuel Roland Lindsay and Alta Knowlton Lindsay. She grew up and attended schools in Payson and graduated from Payson High School. She also attended Utah State University.

On November 8, 1943, she married Wendell E. Frisby in the Salt Lake Temple. Together, they raised 8 children, Kent, Kay, Mark, Craig, Kathy, Jill, Joell, and Jana. They lived in Swan Valley where he was a forest ranger and she was a homemaker.

She served in the Boy Scouts of America and earned the Silver Beaver award.

Afton was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held positions in the Relief Society, Primary and Sunday School.

She was a ski instructor, a jail inmate tutor, and played in the Utah Symphony Orchestra. She enjoyed hiking, scouting, quilting, music, genealogy, sky diving, camping, and fishing. She was tiny in stature but larger than life and enjoyed every minute of it.

Afton is survived by

her son, Kent (Vicki) Frisby of Parker, ID;

daughter, Kay (Doug) Martin of Swan Valley, ID;

son, Mark (Lynda) Frisby of Bozeman, MT;

son, Craig (Debbie) Frisby of Rexburg, ID;

daughter, Kathy (Mel) Wraught of Idaho Falls, ID;

daughter, Jill (Kent) Nagao of Ogden, UT;

daughter, Joell (Wayne) Haglund of Idaho Falls, ID;

daughter, Jana (Lyle) Mangum of Cedar Hills, UT.

27 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wendell Frisby; parents, Roland and Alta Lindsay; 3 sisters, son, Jonathan; and grandson, Rob.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2016, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, with Bishop Sam Pinson presiding and Douglas Martin officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in the Ririe Shelton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
