Click Here To View Memorial Video Afton May Jensen Ashton Boyle, 98, of Idaho Falls, passed away November 21, 2013, at the home of her son. She was under the care of her family and Hospice of Eastern Idaho. Afton was born September 6, 1915, in Mantua, Utah, to Marion Martin Jensen and May Laver Jensen. She grew up and attended schools in the area, graduating from Box Elder High School in Brigham City. Following graduation she attended Weber College in Ogden, Utah, for one year. On June 9, 1937, she married Alfred Burrell Ashton in Brigham City, Utah. He preceded her in death July 13, 1961. On September 27, 1969, she marred John E. Boyle in Idaho Falls. He passed away January 26, 1971. Afton was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She worked for the Ogden Standard Examiner and later co-owned Ashton Glass & Paint with her husband, Burrell. Afton worked for the city of Idaho Falls in the Utility Billing Department for 17 years, retiring in 1980. She then worked for Mike at Eastern Idaho Fuel Injection until she was 88. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in Idaho Falls, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Social Order of the Beauceant. Afton was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various callings, including Primary Teacher, MIA Secretary, Relief Society Secretary, and Visiting Teacher. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, needle point, square dancing, and especially loved spending time with her family and many friends. Survivors are: Son: Mike B. (Emma Ann) Ashton of Idaho Falls, ID Daughter: Carolyn May (Cal) Stone of Idaho Falls, ID Son: Van Marion (NaDeene) Ashton of Idaho Falls, ID Daughter-In-Law: Karla Ashton-Grigg of Idaho Falls, ID Brother: Alan L. Jensen of Tooele, UT 12 grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren (with one on the way). She was preceded in death by her parents; both of her husbands; a son, Dave Clifton Ashton, two brothers; two sisters numerous cherished friends and many well loved nieces and nephews. The family wishes to give special thanks to Hospice of Eastern Idaho for their kindness and care. The family suggests memorial donations be sent to Primary Children’s Hospital Foundation, P. O. Box 58249, Salt Lake City, UT 84158-0249 or Hospice of Eastern Idaho, 1810 Moran, Idaho Falls, ID 83401. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 25, 2013, at the Idaho Falls LDS 9th Ward, 395 – 2nd Street, with Bishop David Gemar officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue, ) and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Monday prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
