Adelaida Barragan Cervantes, 87, of Idaho Falls, passed away April 13, 2018, at Turtle & Crane Assisted Living. She was under the care of One Source Hospice.
Adelaida was born January 1, 1931, in El Piño, Mexico, to J. Refugio Barragan and Feliciana Villalobos Barragan.
In 1946, she married Jesus Rico Cervantes in Michoacan, Mexico. To this union were born eight children, Pedro, Mario, Maria, Leo, Trinidad, Refugio, Maria de Jesus, and Rafael. After their children were grown, they moved to Idaho Falls in 1986. Adelaida was a homemaker. She also worked for several potato processing plants.
She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. She loved her family and took good care of them, She cooked wonderful tamales, was a gardener and hard worker. She loved crafts especially weaving baskets.
Adelaida is survived by her son, Pedro (Genoveve, deceased) Cervantes of Bridge Creek, OR; son, Mario (Herminia) Cervantes of Blackfoot, ID; daughter, Maria (Michael, deceased) Jacobsen of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Leo (Gloria) Cervantes of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Trinidad (Martha)(Dianne, deceased) Cervantes of Shelley, ID; son, Refugio "Cuco" (Jan) Cervantes of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Maria de Jesus (Jose Gutierrez) Cervantes of Tremonton, UT; son, Rafael (Natlie) Cervantes of Shelley, ID; 30 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughters-in-law, Genoveve Cervantes and Dianne Cervantes, son-in-law, Michael Jacobsen, and a great-granddaughter, Tulip Cervantes.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to services. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
