Ada Ruth (Cox) Benjamin

Ada Ruth Benjamin, 95, of Idaho Falls, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 11, 2023. She was under the care of her loving family.

Ada was born April 25, 1928, in Endicott, New York, to Thomas Cox and Ruie Lavisa Peck Cox. She grew up and attended school in Endicott and graduated from Union Endicott High School. She also attended Ridley Secretarial School.

On July 24, 1948, she married Arthur LeRoy Benjamin in Endicott, New York. They eventually made their home in Canadensis, Pennsylvania, where Ada and Art built a life for their three children. Ada worked for the Canadensis United Methodist Church and was very involved in the church community. She was always by Art's side as he ministered from several churches in the Poconos, including Beakleyville Baptist Church and attended the Pocono Bible Church regularly before moving from Pennsylvania.

Upon moving to Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 2017, Ada attended Christ Community Church, where she was quickly embraced by a large circle of friends. She loved to quilt, sew, do crafts, garden, and watch the birds. She valued attending a weekly card game with her friends from church.

After her faith, more than anything else, Ada loved being surrounded by her family and friends. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were very important to her, and she held many close, lifelong friends dear to her heart. She was always kind, considerate, and forgiving. Ada was a bright light, and all those who loved her will miss her deeply.

Ada is survived by her loving daughter, Amy (Don) Lehman of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Lori (Ron) Melhorn of Toms River, NJ; son, Mark (Deborah) Benjamin of Canadensis, PA; 8 grandchildren: Aliera, Amber, Skylar, Kristen, Paul, Joseph, Jessica, James; and 4 great-grandchildren: Olivia, Bentley, Bailey, and Aurora.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur Benjamin, and six siblings.

A celebration of life will be held from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2023, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, to honor her loving spirit. As purple was Ada's favorite color, please feel welcome to wear any shade of purple rather than the traditional black.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Samaritan's Purse or to a charity close to your heart.
