Stetson Mick Albertson, 21, passed away June 26, 2021, in Island Park, Idaho.
September 14, 1999, was a red letter day for Trinton and Heidi Albertson and their families when Stetson Mick was born. The world became a better place with him in it. His sisters, Sammie and Harleigh, who adored him and whom he adored, joined the family. Stetson was an active little boy who loved everything ‘motorcycle.’ He asked his parents to name his baby sister 'motorcycle' when she was born. As per his request, they altered that name a bit and gave her the name Harleigh. In spite of his teasing, he was protective of his younger sisters; the three of them were very close friends.
He enjoyed longboarding, riding bikes, and eventually moved on to dirt biking. He loved the outdoors, camping, hunting, photography and was passionate about fishing. He spent many hours at the family ranch and enjoyed adventures of all kinds including kayaking with family in Island Park. He loved his 4 H horse named Chief. They were a good team. He helped with the annual family branding and cattle drives. He was close to his cousins and spent many happy times with them. Each of his cousins loved him and looked up to him. He loved his trucks and his Harley Davidson road bike.
Stetson attended Rigby schools, graduating from Bonneville Technical High School. He was inspired by his uncle to take up welding. A gifted welder, Stetson won 1st place in the Idaho State High School welding competition, qualifying him to compete at Nationals in Kentucky. Stetson was working as a welder at the time of his passing.
Stetson was often found helping others. His loving nature and quick wit was appreciated by his friends and family. He had a heart of gold. He was a man of few words, but his smile said it all. Stetson will be deeply missed.
Stetson is survived by his parents, Heidi Albertson, Trint Albertson and Tiffany Grant; his sisters, Sammie and Harleigh; grandparents, Gaylen and Susan Stucki, Glen and Kathy Allred, and Brenda Grant; along with many adoring aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was an important part of several extended families. His grandfather Mick Albertson preceded him in death.
Stetson's life will be celebrated at a funeral at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 2, 2021, at the Garfield 7th Ward of The Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 5 North 3900 East, Rigby, Idaho, with his longtime friend, Bishop John Jenkins, conducting. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road and Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at the church.
