Ronald Coy Larson, 61, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 23, 2023, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Ron was born June 19, 1962, at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington, to Don Coy Larson and Gayle Tueller Larson. He grew up and attended schools in St. Anthony, Idaho, and graduated from South Fremont High School. He also attended Ricks College and BYU-Idaho, receiving his Bachelor's Degree. He served in the United States Army.
On July 12, 1985, he married Liberty Ubando in the Idaho Falls Temple. Ron and Liberty made their home in Rexburg, Idaho, where Ron was Lieutenant of the Rexburg Police Department.
He enjoyed watching live bands, listening to 80's rock bands, duck hunting with his son, and always looking for someone to help. He was awarded Public Servant of the Year in Rexburg and he was also the Crime Prevention Officer for the State of Idaho. He loved his family dearly and always took care of them.
Ron is survived by his loving wife, Liberty Larson of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Ronald Coy (Abigail) Larson, Jr. of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Nicolette (Jordan) Matosich of Idaho Falls, ID; father, Don Coy Larson of St. Anthony, ID; brother, Sheldon Don (Rae Baker) Larson of Seattle, WA; sister, RaNae Larson of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Greg (Leah) Larson of St. Anthony, ID; brother, Alvin (Monika) Larson of Ririe, ID; sister, ShaRae (Aaron) Ryan of Menan, ID; brother, Trevor (Katrina) Larson of St. Anthony, ID; sister, Lisa Larson of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, LaRae (Jerry) Shipper of Rigby, ID; and grandson, Carter, who he loved so much.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Gayle Larson; and his sister, Teresa Gayle Larson.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 30, 2023, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road in Ammon, Idaho. The family will visit with friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services, both visitations at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and Idaho Honor Guard.
