Norma Jean Mooney Hawkes, 83, of Shelley, Idaho, passed away May 27, 2012, at her home of natural causes.
Norma Jean was born May 17, 1929, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to James Mooney and Grace Wilson Mooney. She grew up in Idaho Falls and graduated from Idaho Falls High School.
On November 24, 1949, she married Donald Thomas Hawkes in Goshen, Idaho. They made their home in Goshen, where they raised their two sons, James and Kim. Norma Jean was a wife, mother, and homemaker. She also worked as a Lab Technician at French’s and Pillsbury in Shelley for many years. Don passed away January 10, 1993.
Norma Jean enjoyed crocheting, making jam, square dancing, cooking, sewing, baking rolls and homemade bread, painting, gardening, and doing crossword puzzles. Norma Jean loved her ladies lunch group and looked forward to time spent with them.

5 Great Grandchildren, Paige Hawkes, Sidney Hawkes, Landon Krall, Jaxon Krall, and Alexis Krall.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Don.
The family offers special thanks to Joe and Shirley Terry Simpson, Joe Williams, Becky Mitchell, Vera Gentillon, and Ed and Dina Folmar, for being friends and caregivers.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Wood East Side. Burial will be next to Don in the Ammon Cemetery.
