Harvey A. Hatch - 11/21/2001 Harvey A. Hatch - 11/21/2001 DR. HARVEY A. HATCH IDAHO FALLS, ID -- Dr. Harvey Allan Hatch, 87, died November 18, 2001 in Idaho Falls. He was born October 5, 1914 at Heber City, Utah to Dr. Henry Ray Hatch and Mary Leona Miles Hatch. The family moved to Idaho Falls in the spring of 1920. He grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls, graduating in 1932. He attended summer schools at Ricks College and BYU during his high school years. Later he received his B.A. from the University of Utah and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. He received an M.D. degree from John Hopkins University Medical School in l940. He specialized in Pediatrics and Internal Medicine. Dr. Harvey practiced medicine in Idaho Falls from l940 to 1987, except for the 30 months he served as a flight surgeon during World War II. The Hatch Clinic at 1050 Memorial Drive was organized with his father and brothers in l950. He was a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and held Medical Certificates in Idaho, Utah, and California. He served as Governor for the State of Idaho for the American College of Cardiology from 1968 to 1971, President of the American Heart Association, and served as Idaho Falls City Physician from 1979 to 1987. He married Delsa Vivian Crowley on August l3, l937 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on October 9, 1964. He later married Dallas Jordan Burns for time only in the Idaho Falls Temple on June l, l968. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission from 1932-1935 to the Swiss-German Mission. He served on the High Council of the South Idaho Falls Stake. He was a dedicated Gospel Doctrine Teacher and loved serving in this calling. He, with his wife, Dallas, served a Spanish-speaking mission to Miami, Florida in 1988-1990. Harvey was fascinated with languages and learned them easily. He traveled extensively and studied the history and culture of many countries. He had a special love for the German people. He returned to Germany during his WWII military service and rendered many humanitarian services to them. He has kept in close association with these choice people throughout his life. He had a thirst for knowledge and the ability to remember the things he studied. He is survived by his wife: Dallas, of Idaho Falls, ID;Daughter: Delsa Diane Hatch, San Francisco, CA;Son: Harvey Ray (Sharon) Hatch, Cedar City, UT; Son: James Michael Hatch, Richmond, CA; Daughter: Kathleen (Robert) Fotheringham, Salt Lake City, UT; Daughter: Julia Ann “Jill” (Gene) Orro, Pelham, MA; Step-Children: Jordan Keven (Carol) Burns, Phoenix, AZ; Bryce J. (Julie) Burns, Orem, UT; Stacey Ann Burns (Shane) Smoot, Centerville, UT; Brother, Dr. C. Steven (Margery) Hatch, Provo, UT; Sister-In-Law: Delberta (Joseph) Hatch, Idaho Falls, ID; and 24 Grandchildren and 6 Great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: his wife, Delsa Crowley Hatch; a daughter, Laurie Beth Hunt; 3 brothers: Bill, John and Joe; and a grandson, Jaren Bryce Burns. Funeral Services will be at 12 noon Saturday, November 24, 2001, at the Idaho Falls LDS 2nd Ward, with Bishop Bowen Huntsman officiating. The family will meet with friends on Friday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home, 273 North Ridge Avenue, and prior to the funeral from 11:00-11:45 a.m. at the 2nd Ward building at 9th St. and Boulevard. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Idaho Falls. Military rites will be performed by a Bonneville County Veterans Team. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Primary Children’s Hospital, 100 North Medical Dr. Salt Lake City, UT 84113, the Perpetual Education Fund of The Church of Jesus Chris of Latter-day Saints or a charity of your choice in the name of Dr. Harvey A.
