Barbara (Ball) Wadsworth

Our dear mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister, Barbara Ball Wadsworth, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, surrounded by family.

Barbara was the 13th and last child of Willard and Ethel Singley Ball, born in Ammon, Idaho, on May 19, 1935. The family always lived in the same home on their farm at Sunnyside and Crowley Road.

Barbara, being the youngest, was always protected and catered to by her siblings, whom she loved. She helped her father on the family farm and in the garden and kitchen with her mother.

She attended school in Ammon, graduating from Bonneville High School in 1953. She later worked at the Diane Hughes Shop in Idaho Falls.

In 1958, she met and married Delbert Wadsworth. Together, they had five children: Kurt, Cherie, Troy, Scott, and Cory. She was devoted to loving and protecting her family. Although she and Delbert later divorced, her commitment to their children never wavered.

Around 1990, Barbara moved to Montello, Nevada, where she worked in the family-owned bar business. She was a stalwart member of that community, which resulted in many friendships and her becoming a mother figure to most of the small town. She was loved by many, offering food, counsel, and wisdom. She always had her children and grandchildren around her, and they had many family gatherings and reunions.

Barbara was the kind of woman who didn’t just walk into a room—she lit it up. For those lucky enough to know her, the bar wasn’t just a business or a building; it was Barbara’s stage, her sanctuary, and her second home.

Owning and working in a bar was more than a job for Barbara—it was her way of staying close to friends. It was where she laughed, told stories, and everyone considered her a friend.

If you ever had the chance to catch her on karaoke night, you probably heard her sing "Crazy" by Patsy Cline—her favorite song. Whether the gathering was big or small, Barbara brought her light with her—one that warmed everyone around her.

Barbara lived life the way it should be lived: with boldness and compassion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, and six sisters.

She is survived by her children, Kurt Wadsworth of Montello, NV, Troy Wadsworth of Montello, NV, Cherie (Robert) Simmons Wadsworth of Montello, NV, Scott Wadsworth of Idaho Falls, and Cory (Patrece) Wadsworth of Saratoga Springs, UT; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Margene (Dee) Nish of Idaho Falls, ID and Jeneal (Hal Pedersen) Wimer of Bountiful, UT; and her children’s father, Delbert Wadsworth.

Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, at the Ammon Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road, prior to services.

The family would like to thank The Gables of Idaho Falls and Symbii Home Health and Hospice.
