Mildred Luella Mattern, 84, of Ammon, passed away November 28, 2019, at her home. She was under the care of her loving family and Aspen Home Health and Hospice.
Mildred was born May 28, 1935, in Brigham City, Utah, to Lelan Austin Moore and Vilate Luella Bronson Moore. She grew up and attended elementary schools in Brigham City, Utah, and in Idaho. Once her family returned to Utah she went on to attend schools in Bear River City and Brigham City, and graduated from Box Elder High School in Brigham City, Utah.
On March 9, 1957, she married Elmer Arthur Mattern in Butte, Montana. Mildred and Elmer made their home in Ammon, Idaho, where she worked at River View Nursing Home and the INL but her true passion was working at the Development Workshop. Elmer passed away on August 25, 2003. Following his passing Mildred traveled and lived in various locations before returning to Ammon.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mildred enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, LuAnne (Jerry) Powers of Ammon, ID; son, Jeff (Georgia) Mattern of Cheyenne, WY, son, Larry (Theresa) Mattern of Glendale, AZ, son, Dan (Donita) Mattern of Post Falls, ID; 11 grandchildren and more than 18 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Arthur Mattern, parents, Lelan Austin Moore and Vilate Luella Moore; and her brother, Leland Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at Cottages Ward, 2200 Stafford Drive, with Bishop Brian Mecham officiating. The family will visit with friends from 10-10:45 a.m. prior. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, December 6th at the Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls.
