Joy V. Cole, 92, of Ammon, passed away September 15, 2019, at her son's home. She was under the care of her loving family and Aspen Home Health & Hospice. Joy was born March 29, 1927, in Healdsburg, California, to William H. Denise and Dee Sharp Denise.
She met her husband, Robert M. Cole, while working at the Camp Pinedale Base Exchange near Fresno, California. They married on July 21, 1945, prior to Robert shipping out overseas with the Army Air Corp as a Radioman, during World War II. Following the war, Joy and Robert moved all over the Western States, while Robert worked for the U. S. Forest Service.
They retired from the Forest Service after 35 years, and built their first permanent home at Diamond Point, overlooking the Puget Sound, near Sequim, Washington. Lots of crabbing, salmon & halibut fishing for family & friends.
Winters were spent in their trailer at Bullhead City, Arizona, relaxing, traveling and playing the slot machines in Nevada. Joy was exceptionally lucky with the slots, having many hotel rooms comped for the various family members to visit and stay for free.
After her husband, Robert, passed in 2007, her eldest son David moved his Mom to his home in Ammon, where she enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren, traveling, movies, restaurants, cruising and visiting Roatan Island, Honduras.
Joy is survived by her loving son, David (Connie) Cole of Ammon, ID; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert M. Cole; sons, Larry A. Cole and Alan R. Cole; and a granddaughter, Shannon M. Cole.
Private family services will be held and then her ashes will be scattered on “Larry's Mountain,” in the Lemhi Mountain Range, beside her husband, Robert, her two younger sons, Larry and Alan, and her granddaughter, Shannon.
