Ira Ellry "Ike" Landon passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at St. Peter's Hospital in Helena, Montana, at the age of 98.
Ira was born February 22, 1921, in Kimball, Idaho, to Arthur and Elva Landon. He married Terese Richards on June 3, 1942, in the Salt Lake City Temple.
Ira served as a machine gunner in World War II in Germany from 1944-46. He went on to work for Caterpillar for 35 years in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Missoula, Montana. In his spare time, Ira enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, and working on cars.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He and Terese served a mission in Tonga for the church.
He will be lovingly missed by his three children, Forrest Landon of Reedpoint, Montana, Randy Landon of Rexburg, Idaho, and Nanette Preszler of Helena, Montana; a brother, Jerry Landon of Roberts, Idaho; a sister, Ora Albertson of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 12 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on September 7, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Fielding Memorial Park in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Wood Funeral Home in Idaho Falls, Idaho with the assistance of Retz Funeral Home in Helena, Montana
