Earl Grant Peterson, 88, of Idaho Falls, passed away October 12, 2019, at Homestead Assisted Living in Rexburg, Idaho. He was under the loving care of his family and Encompass Home Health & Hospice.
Grant was born March 9, 1931, in Grace, Idaho, to Hyrum Smith Peterson and Flora Eve Perry Peterson. He grew up and attended schools in Grace and graduated from Grace High School. He served as a Sergeant in the United States Marines during the Korean War.
On June 7, 1957, he married Sheryl Brown in Soda Springs, Idaho. To this union were born five children, Stephanie, Greg, Cory, Bruce, and Kirsten. Grant and Sheryl made their home in Grace, Idaho, where Grant worked as an electrical utility supervisor for Utah Power and Light. They later retired to Idaho Falls, Idaho.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and camping.
Grant is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Sheryl Peterson of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Stephanie (Doug) Lau of Soda Springs, ID; son, Greg (Katie) Peterson of Payson, UT; son, Cory (Traci) Peterson of Rexburg, ID; son, Bruce Peterson of Idaho Falls, ID; daughter, Kirsten Peterson of Idaho Falls, ID; 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2019, at the Ammon Cemetery, 5226 E. Sunnyside Road. The family will visit with friends from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to services at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team and the Marine Corps Honor Guard.
