Our beloved son, brother, and uncle, William “Bill” Allen Wilkins, 40, passed away June 7, 2011, at his home in Idaho Falls of cancer. He was under the loving care of his family and Alliance Hospice.
Bill was born April 23, 1971, in Blackfoot, Idaho, the second of four children born to Reuel Hugh Wilkins and Lori Christensen Wilkins (now Lori Christensen-Lake). A lifelong resident of Idaho Falls, he attended Dora Erickson Elementary School, Clair E. Gale Junior High, and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. Bill loved sports and played football during school. Bill had a great sense of humor: one of his ‘proudest’ moments was when he informed his Democrat mother he was elected President of the IFHS Young Republicans. He continued his education at Ricks College and Brigham Young University, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
Bill loved people and had a wonderful career in banking. He was Manager of the Idaho Falls Woodruff Branch of Wells Fargo Bank. He loved his job, his employees and customers, and they loved him.
Bill was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a full-time mission in his youth in the Mexico City, Mexico North Mission. He was a huge fan of Mexican culture and food and loved being able to help his Hispanic customers.
A dedicated son, he stayed continually by his mother’s side when she was ill. Devoted to his family, Bill especially loved being with his nieces and nephews; everyone wanted an Uncle Bill like him. Bill happily assisted with baseball, football and hockey for his family members, never missing a game no matter what time of day or night, doing whatever was needed. While attending BYU, Bill would drive to Idaho Falls specifically to watch his nephew, Ricky, play ball, then turn around and drive back to Provo the same day.
Bill is survived by his parents, Reuel Wilkins and Lori (George) Christensen-Lake, four brothers, George Lake, James Lake, and Nic Wilkins, all of Idaho Falls, ID, and John Lake of San Diego, CA; four sisters, Lisa Wilkins, Angie Goodwin, Jacki Wilkins, and Jessica Lake; his maternal grandmother, Naomi Carson of Idaho Falls, ID; a nephew, Ricky (Kendra) Wilkins; two nieces, Sasha Wilkins and Emmi Wilkins; and two great nephews, Paxton Mardy Wilkins and Davin William Wilkins. Bill was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, J. Ralph and Eva Judd Wilkins, and his maternal grandfather, Harry Christensen.
