Alice Bodily Olsen Obituary

Alice Leone Smith Bodily Olsen, 96, of Iona, passed away April 21, 2024, at her home. She was under the care of Aspen Home Health & Hospice and her loving family.

Alice was born May 24, 1927, in Riverdale, Idaho, to Robert Lauritz Smith and Doris Bennett Smith. She grew up and attended schools in Draper, Utah, graduating from South Jordan High School.

On February 18, 1949, she married Del Roy C. Bodily in the Salt Lake City Temple. They made their home in Iona, Idaho, where they raised their family. Her family was her greatest joy. Del Roy passed away in 1979. Her deep and abiding love of her eternal sweetheart sustained her through 45 years of separation.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in all church organizations. She was a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Bonneville Art Association, and Trionaires. She was an artist and seamstress and created a beautiful home. She blessed many piano students, her community and others with her musical talent on the piano.

She married Ronald Olsen in Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 1984. They served three church missions and enjoyed one another's companionship in writing family histories, attending the temple and their grandchildren's special events. She loved her Olsen family.

Alice blessed her family with an example of kindness, faith, righteous living and enduring to the end “well.” She understood God's purposes. She made significant effort in assuring that each family member felt loved and special. The family traditions she established through the years, encouraged unity and “remembering who we are!” Her testimony of Jesus Christ and love of family were of upmost importance throughout her life. She believed in the power of prayer.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Delores (Rick) Cook of Idaho Falls, ID; son, Steven (Barbara) Bodily of Rupert, ID; daughter, Kathie (Randy) Bergquist of Weiser, ID; son, Paul (Deena) Bodily of Eagle, ID; son, Robert (Renee) Bodily of Iona, ID; son, Eric (Linda) Bodily of Ammon, ID; 26 grandchildren, 89 great-grandchildren (with two on the way), and ten great-great grandchildren (with one on the way).

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Doris Smith; first husband, Del Bodily; all nine siblings and their spouses; second husband, Ron Olsen; great grandson, Jayden Neal Guymon; great-granddaughters, Maci Jade Guymon, Georgia Bergquist and Faith Bergquist.
