PHOENIX, AZ -- Linda Carol Burr (Conley) Austin, 60, of Phoenix, Arizona, formerly of Idaho Falls, passed away May 29, 2002, at Maricopa County Hospital in Phoenix of cancer. She was born July 31, 1941, at Natchez, Mississippi, to Archie Burr and Maudie Marie Coward Burr. Her mother passed away in 1950 and she was raised by her stepfather, Harry Kaiser Conley. She attended schools in Franklin County, Mississippi. She received her training as a Registered Nurse at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. She worked briefly in Memphis, then moved to Chicago, Illinois. She married David Fletcher Austin June 20, 1969, at Chicago, Illinois. They worked together in his Ear, Nose, & Throat medical practice in Chicago until 1989, when they moved to Idaho Falls and opened Idaho E.N.T., from which they retired in 2000. They moved to Phoenix to be near their son, Chris, and his family, in April, 2001. She enjoyed traveling the world, was an avid cross-stitcher, loved her pets, collected art work, loved to visit with friends and family, and was a friend to everyone. She was a very compassionate person who had a special bond with her granddaughters, Lauryn and Haleigh, whom she spent many hours with over the past year, and loved her grandsons, Nelson, Owen, Chase, & Bryce. Surviving are: Graveside Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2002, at the Mount Gilead Church Cemetery in Franklin County, Mississippi. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the services at the cemetery. Burial will be in the Mt. Gilead Church Cemetery under the direction of Hartman Funeral Home in McComb, Mississippi. The family suggests memorials to the Mount Gilead Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 358 Spring Road SE, Smithdale, MS 39664.
