Ruth Maupin Anderson, 96, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 29, 2014, at Morningstar Senior Living Center. She was under the care of Hospice of Eastern Idaho.
Ruth was born October 8, 1917, in Newdale, Idaho, to Samuel McDowell Maupin and Mabel Elinor Gray Maupin. She grew up and attended schools in St. Anthony and graduated from high school. She often recalled fond memories of swimming in the Snake River during her adolescence.
Ruth worked at Hill Air Force Base and later for Mountain States Telephone, where she met George Anderson. They were married on April 2, 1946, in Nampa, Idaho. To this union were born two children, a son and a daughter. Ruth and George made their home in Jerome, Idaho, and later moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 60 years, and the First Presbyterian Church where she was a deacon and volunteered in the church office. Ruth was also active in the community as a member of the Historical Society, a docent at the Museum of Idaho, and a volunteer with the Idaho Food Bank. Ruth was a Guardian of Bethel 22 of the International Order of Job’s Daughters. She enjoyed playing bridge, walking, and traveling, visiting more than 28 countries. All who knew Ruth always referred to her as such a lady.
Ruth is survived by several nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, daughter, brothers Mack and Charles Maupin, and her sister Connie Stanfield.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, June 5, 2014, at 11:30 a.m., at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Ron Lavoie officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the First Presbyterian Church, 325 Elm Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83402, or Hospice of Eastern Idaho, 1810 Moran Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83401.
